SmartScan Firedetector combining detection of CO, CO2 and temperature
The new digital infrared early warning fire detector
3 sensors in one - a revolutionary technical design.

What does it do?
The new fire alarm combines infrared gas detection of CO and CO2 with a fast digital temperature sensor, enabling the detection of smouldering fires at a early stage as well as putting a stop to false fire alarms. This revolutionary goal is achieved by checking 3 factors that must exist if an actual fire is starting:

1. Increasing level of CO (Carbon Monoxide)
2. Increasing level of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide)
3. Increasing temperature

As the sensor is based on the world leading SmartScan infrared gas detection technology, it will not suffer from the problems associated with the inferior products using ion, optical or electrochemical detectors. The new fail to safe addressable fire detector measures specific gas molecules generated in an emerging fire, and is not confused by smoking, showering, cooking or other particle generating activities.

How does it work?
When the infrared Carbon Monoxide (CO) sensor detects a level of 45ppm* CO, the sensor automatically speeds up measurements from standard 30 sec. intervals to 1 sec. intervals to decide if the increasing CO level is a trend. Simultaneously, the detector checks if there is an increase in the rooms CO2 level and temperature as well, to determine if it is a fire. Even small smouldering fires generate abnormal levels of CO2, so even if the temperature is still low, an early warning for the emerging fire is possible.

3 sensors in one detector
As the detector contains 3 independent sensors, it can be used for other applications than fire detection:

The CO2 and temperature sensors can be used in the building automation system for demand control ventilation, controlling indoor climate, comfort levels and enabling huge energy savings.

For security and access control applications the ultra-fast and high resolution CO2 sensor can be used as an intruder alarm, since intruders have to breathe, even if they are able to bypass motion detection or standard IR sensors.

Since the new fire alarm is digital, it can be equipped with standard digital bus cards for communication over Modbus, Instabus, Profibus, Ethernet, EIB, LonWorks or BacNet. One can even use an analogue card for 4-20mA/0-10V signalling.
